Integrated Arts

Creative expression is seamlessly integrated into every unit of study.  We use visual arts and music to bring the content to life.

Art Class

We have a wonderful art teacher, Susan Blurton who delivers art classes to all of the Mountain Schools.  Her projects are both creative and visually stunning.

Classroom Theatre

You've never seen an elementary play until you've seen a Gold Hill School production.  Our annual play is a not-to-be-missed event for our entire community.  All of our musical plays are Gold Hill School originals, written by the school teachers both past and present.  Every child in the school has an important role on stage.  The students grow with their roles over the years.  Graduates of our programs are comfortable and confident on stage and singing, dancing and performing in front of large crowds.

We also regularly have smaller plays, skits and performances.  We use theatre to teach about character development and bullying prevention.  We use it to teach about social studies concepts, like the American Revolution, immigration, branches of government and westward expansion.  We use it to teach word families, math concepts, test taking skills, and countless other applications.

Arts on the Road

As a small group, it is not hard for us to secure tickets to many theatrical events in the Front Range area.  We are often found out at various play and musicals, the ballet, orchestra or opera.  We spend time visiting art museums and listening to choirs.  While most students average one or two field trips a year, we often have between 10-20 a year, with a slew of visiting artists sharing their trades with us inside the school as well.
