Gold Hill School Provides:

The Gold Hill School receives an annual budget of $5000 from BVSD to enhance student lunches and snacks. Each morning, students are provided with a fresh fruit snack. At lunch, the school offers a variety of vegetables through a salad bar, occasionally supplemented with stir-fry or other nutrient-rich options. Additionally, a healthy mid-afternoon snack is provided, featuring items such as crackers, yogurt, cheese and salami, nuts, or granola bars.

Families Provide:

Each student brings a packed lunch from home daily. Students are also welcome to bring "heat-ups"—meals stored in oven-safe dishes or wrapped in aluminum foil. These items are warmed in the oven for approximately 30 minutes before lunchtime, giving students the option to enjoy a hot meal each day.

School Garden & Cooking:

The Gold Hill School features several garden beds located both in the schoolyard and the classroom, along with a greenhouse. Students actively tend to the gardens, harvesting fresh vegetables for lunch. We often use our produce to create soups, jams, and baked goods. Additionally, we engage in cultural cooking projects, such as making homemade tortillas or rolling our own sushi. The kids absolutely love getting into the kitchen and cooking up something delicious!
